It all started when…
Alan P. Ness was born in San Francisco in 1976. He studied painting at the San Francisco School of the Arts and graduated in 1994. He went on to study Glass and Ceramics at the California College of Arts and Crafts (renamed California College of the Arts) and graduated in 2000 with his BFA. In 2000 Alan moved to Hawaii and made it his home for twenty plus years. He received his Masters of Fine Arts specializing in Glass from The University of Hawaii at Manoa in 2008. Alan has been an active member of the Hawaii Arts Community and Glass Art scene. He has held several positions on the board of Hawaii Glass Artists including President, Secretary and Treasurer. He has also taught at the University of Hawaii Glass Program, and was formerly a Preparator and the Collections Technician at the Honolulu Museum of Art. His work can be found in several private and public collections.
Recently relocated to New Mexico in 2022, Alan is working out of his studio in Placitas, specializing in paintings, ceramics, metal and blown glass works of art.
